How the European Baccalaureate mark is calculated

Since the 2021 session, the European Baccalaureate result is built from three components. The preliminary mark — the average of your S7 A marks (class work) and B marks (part exams) — accounts for 50%. The five written examinations account for 35%, and the three oral examinations account for 15%. The overall Baccalaureate mark is expressed as a percentage, and 60% is the pass mark.

Each subject also carries a final mark out of 10 on the certificate, calculated with the same proportions. Where a subject has no written or oral examination, this calculator renormalises the remaining weights over the components you entered, so a subject with only a preliminary mark reports that mark unchanged.

The figures here are an estimate for planning and revision. Your official result comes from the Baccalaureate Unit, which applies rounding rules and, in specific cases, compensation provisions. Read the current rules in the Arrangements for Implementing the Regulations for the European Baccalaureate.
